Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to the questions we hear most often. Don’t see yours? Call us — we’re happy to talk.
Getting Started
How do I get started? What does the process look like?
It starts with a free in-home consultation. You fill out our contact form or call us, we schedule a time to visit your home, and Justin personally meets with you to discuss your vision, assess the space, and answer your questions. After the visit, you’ll receive a detailed, itemized written estimate — typically within 2–3 business days. There’s no pressure and no obligation at any point.
Is the estimate really free? Are there any hidden fees?
Yes, completely free. No consultation fees, no estimate fees, no strings attached. We believe in earning your business by being the most transparent and trustworthy option — not by locking you in before you’ve made a decision.
How quickly can you start my project?
It depends on our current schedule and the scope of your project. Smaller projects like cabinet refinishing can sometimes start within 1–2 weeks. Larger kitchen or bathroom remodels typically have a 3–6 week lead time for scheduling and material procurement. We’ll give you a realistic start date during the consultation.
Pricing & Contracts
How do you price your projects?
Every estimate is itemized — you see exactly what you’re paying for labor, materials, and any subcontracted work. We don’t give vague lump-sum quotes. This transparency means you can make informed decisions about where to invest your budget and where to save.
What if the price changes during the project?
We don’t change the price without your written approval. If we discover something unexpected during the project (like water damage behind a wall), we stop, explain the situation, provide a written change order with the cost, and wait for your approval before proceeding. No surprises.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept check, bank transfer (ACH), and major credit cards. We typically require a deposit to secure your project date, with the remainder due upon completion. The exact payment schedule is outlined in your contract.
During the Project
Do I need to be home during the remodel?
Not necessarily. Many of our clients give us a key or door code and go about their normal lives. We’re trustworthy, professional, and respectful of your home. That said, we do recommend being available for the first day and the final walkthrough, and we’ll always communicate before arriving each day.
How do you protect my home during the project?
We use heavy-duty floor protection, plastic sheeting for dust containment, and furniture covers as needed. We clean up at the end of every workday and take care to protect surfaces, furniture, and belongings throughout the project. We treat your home like our own.
Who will actually be doing the work?
Justin personally manages every project and is on-site regularly throughout the process. Our core crew consists of skilled craftsmen we’ve worked with for years. For specialized work (like plumbing or electrical), we use licensed subcontractors we trust and have vetted. You’ll never have strangers in your home that we haven’t personally vouched for.
Specific Services
What’s the difference between cabinet refinishing and cabinet refacing?
Refinishing means we strip, prep, and repaint or restain your existing cabinet doors and boxes — same doors, new finish. It’s the most affordable option and takes 3–5 days. Refacing means we replace the doors and drawer fronts entirely with new ones, and apply matching veneer to the cabinet boxes. It’s more expensive than refinishing but less than full replacement, and gives you a completely new door style. We’ll recommend the right option during your consultation based on the condition of your cabinets and your goals.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most kitchen remodels take 3–6 weeks from start to finish, depending on scope. A targeted upgrade (new countertops and backsplash) might take 1–2 weeks. A full gut renovation with custom cabinets can take 6–8 weeks. We provide a detailed timeline in your estimate so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. For projects that require permits (structural changes, plumbing, electrical), we handle the permit application and scheduling inspections. The cost of permits is included in your estimate. We never skip permits to save time — it protects you and ensures the work is done to code.
Licensing & Warranty
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, fully. Bayshore Remodels is a licensed contractor in the state of Florida. We carry comprehensive general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage on every project. We’re happy to provide proof of insurance and license upon request.
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship. If something isn’t right after the project is complete, we come back and fix it — no questions asked. The specific warranty terms are outlined in your contract. We’ve built our reputation on doing right by our clients, and that doesn’t stop when the job is done.
